Our Story.
The Catholic Mental Health Professionals Association began with a conversation between two therapists, Sylvia and Bridget, at a Catholic young adults symposium.
We quickly realized we had something in common beyond our faith: we were both licensed therapists in private practice, and we were both yearning to bring more of our full selves into our clinical work. We wanted to integrate our religious practice with our profession in a way that would benefit our Catholic clients. This kind of integration is hard to find, but deeply needed.
As we talked, we noticed something missing. There are many wonderful Christian therapy directories, but none in our Diocese dedicated specifically to Catholic mental health care. Catholics seeking therapy were left to either piece together a search on their own or settle for clinicians who didn't share the particular depth of their tradition.
So we decided to build what didn't yet exist.
Our Vision
We're a young association, and we're growing. Our vision is a California where any Catholic, from a child navigating a difficult family transition to a grieving widow to a couple preparing for marriage, can easily find a therapist who honors both their clinical needs and their deepest beliefs.
We're grateful to be part of that work, and we're grateful you're here.

Therapy from Clinicians Who Share Your Values

Rooted In Faith
Our therapists don't set their faith aside when they enter the counseling room. They integrate the wisdom of the Catholic tradition with evidence-based clinical practice, so you can bring your whole self to therapy.

Clinically Excellent
Every therapist in our directory is a licensed mental health professional in California. We believe authentic Catholic care and clinical rigor go hand in hand. Faith deepens our work, it doesn't replace it.
